Form in Poetry

My Form in Poetry workshops are continuing on the last Thurssday of every month from 6pm to 8pm. Each workshop focuses on a particular aspect of form in poetry and challenges the participants to emulate examples from published poets. Traditional form is not the focus. The structure grows from the feeling or event, but we apply certain measures in the construction. We might start with numbers as the central definer of the paradigm, or sound, or rhythm. We look at schools of poetry and apply their concepts. Last month the exercise was based on a conflation of objectivism and imagism. The object was to let the object speak. There are one or two places left, and the quality of the work is high, everyone a thoughtful writer.
