How to Make a Magic Carpet began with the discovery of Gustav Davidson's book, A Dictionary of Angels. What an amazing fantasy-creation angels are. At the back of the book is a grimoire and "Spell for the Manufacture and Use of a Magic Carpet." Detailed instructions. Irresistible. I presume the ritual itself is the magic, whether or not there is flight. In the film there is flight, thanks to the wonderful work of Bernie Masterson, the artist.
